This repoussée box represents Art Deco, Egyptomania. That is the style that arose due to the great influence of the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb in 1922. The scarab or scarab beetle is a metaphor for origins, or creation, just like the rising sun that is connected to the god Chepri. The Egyptians thought that the scarab came out of nowhere from a dung ball.
