A table lamp in the shape of stylized chestnut leaves and flowers. The interwoven Art Nouveau "whiplash" lines of the base are the roots, and the bulb holders are the outer shell of the chestnut. This table lamp from around 1900 dates from the time when electricity in the home was a novelty that you could be proud of. The light bulb itself was an attraction that was not hidden away under a cover. Light bulbs were also blown into unique shapes and were indestructible. These antique light bulbs are still burning.
