Toen Emile Gallé begon met de productie van zijn wereldberoemd geworden kunstglas, gebruikte hij vaak de emaille techniek. Hier zien we een grote vaas van lichtgroen uranium glas, die ijsachtig geëtst is, doordat men er zuur overheen gespoeld heeft. Daarna zijn met glasemaille in een soort cloisonné techniek de Chinese Asters aangebracht. Chinese kunst was voor Gallé aan het einde van de 19e eeuw de grote inspiratiebron. Vervolgens kwam daar de art nouveau stijl bij.
