Treasures of the Nile

This jewelry storage box is lined with parchment on which drawings have been made with a fine pen of everyday agricultural scenes from the time of the Pharaohs. The fittings are made of "repoussé" brass, decorated at the front and back with imitation cameo turquoise. When Tutankhamun's tomb was discovered in 1925, it was a huge sensation and led to a wave of Egyptomania. In the art deco style we see a lot of stylization that is inspired by ancient Egypt. This jewelry box is purely Egyptian.
