Reflets Metallique vase with a well-done colorful effect. The reduction-fired glaze with metal and silver oxides in the second firing creates this mother-of-pearl-like effect. The decor with the fluttering butterflies with their iridescent wings fits in perfectly. Clement Massier became world famous for developing these so-called reflets metallique glazes. These vases were purchased around 1900 by museums all over the world, including the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
