The Ecole des beaux arts in Paris was not open to women. Women were not admitted until 1896. Fanny Rozet was a valued member of the Union des Femmes Peinters et Sculpteurs, which vied for entry into the Ecole des Beaux Arts. She is the first female sculptor to be admitted! From 1904 she exhibited at the prestigious annual Salon in Paris. In 1904 she immediately received an honorable mention, just as in 1923. She won a bronze medal in 1921 and a silver medal in 1926. This beautiful copy of the Dance with the Scarf was cast at the Parisian foundry Les Neveux de J.Lehmann, and is depicted in their catalogue, see penultimate image. The last image is from Alberto Shayo's book.
