One of the most striking features of international Art Nouveau, or Jugendstil as it is called in Germany, is the line with the whiplash shape. Decorative organic and moving lines are recurring in the designs. Yet it has become difficult to detect clean designs with these whiplash lines. They are of course already in many collections and are cherished there. I am therefore happy that I was able to add this large pair of candlesticks from the Wurtembergse Metalwaren Fabrik (WMF) to our collection. Even within the countless WMF designs that you can encounter, this is an extremely difficult model to find.
