This resting yet observant lioness is lifelike and lively
sculpted from a single block of travertine marble. Unique copy. Signed. AV Becquerel, he mainly became known as an animalier in the Art Deco period. Between 1914 and 1922 he exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français. Becquerel was a student of Prosper Lecoutier, also an animal sculptor, and Hector Joseph Lemair.
