Signed Medici vase by Loetz.
The iridescent colors of Loetz glass were particularly attractive around 1900. The decors were usually not painted or applied in detail. The trick lay in processing the different types of glass and oxides while blowing the vase. A process that could only be achieved with the greatest craftsmanship and experience. We see a good example of the power of this expertise here in this vase with Medici decor. The ground color of this vase is Kastaniën verlaufend. a warm color that makes the bright iridescent silver oxide spots stand out even better. The colors of this copy are very strong and enchanting.
