One of the masters of pâte de foute is Gabriel Argy Rousseau. His technique was very demanding and labor intensive and on a small scale. P â te de foute is a glass technique known from the ancient Egyptians and explored by a number of French artists at the end of the 19th century. A glass paste is baked in a mold and the mold is filled with colored glass powders. The painterly effect with the often translucent colors is unique.
